How to download a GIF from X and keep it as a GIF
1. Why X GIFs are actually videos
When you post a GIF, X re-encodes it as a silent, looping MP4 because video is far smaller and plays smoothly on every phone. Nothing on X is stored as a .gif file any more.
2. Grab the MP4 in one click
Paste the post link into the GIF Downloader and tap GIF as MP4. This is the original file, loops perfectly and is usually under 2 MB.
